Map link and more details about Llanberis
Click here to pop-up a map of Llanberis
for where the house is situated, although the arrow does not point to
exactly the right place - the house is actually almost directly
opposite the entrance to Stryd-y-Ffynnon. You can drag the map
around to familiarise yourself with the area.
The village itself is situated at the bottom of the valley which descends from Snowdon into the sea at Anglesey. Padarn and Peris Lakes are to be found between the village and the slate quarries on the opposite hillside. Information about the quarry and its history can be found at the Slate Museum across the Padarn Lake Park where you can see slate being made and you can buy all sorts of things to take home.
At the bottom of Goodman Street you will find Pete's Eats on one corner and the tourist information office on another, more information about things to do around Snowdonia can be found on the Attractions of Snowdonia site. On the right hand corner is the Italian Bistro which has won many awards and is very often booked out. Next to Pete's is the Post Office, and opposite that is a very handy hardware store that sells wood and coal for the fire. Slightly further along on the left are the HSBC bank and V12 shop.
If you turn right at the end of the road you will find Saffron a vegetarian and mostly organic delicatessan, which sells hearty soups and fantastic food essentials of a slightly better quality than you would get in the Spar up the road! There is also a laundry service and the Honey Pot on the left hand side which apart from your morning papers, sells fantastic cookies and honey. The Heights Pub is the next on your left, a general hangout of the climbing and walking fraternity, and opposite that is the Spar which never seems to close so is great for essentials.
